Andreas Guhr (59), born in Hamburg, is in the meantime considered one of the foremost international experts on minerals, fossils and gems.
The gemmologist, diamond appraiser and expert for the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry studied art and has been fascinated by stones since early childhood. In addition to leading a successful business with fossils and minerals, he has also led expeditions to the most distant corners of the world. Thus, for example, in 1992 he organised the German-Mongolian expedition to the Gobi desert and accompanied a team of scientists from GEO magazine, which searched for meteorites in the Sahara.
At international trade fairs, the name Andreas Guhr stands for the highest quality, many years of experience and an international, exclusive network. As the managing director of the "Mineralien Zentrums Andreas Guhr GmbH" and co-founder of "Der Verband des Deutschen Mineralien- und Fossilien Fachhandels“ (DMF International) (Association of German Specialty Traders in Minerals and Fossils), the "International Association of Paleontological Suppliers" and founder of the "Hamburger Mineralientage" (Hamburg Mineral Days), one of the largest trade fairs in Germany, Guhr is considered an important figure.
In Hamburg, Andreas Guhr is realizing an entirely unique project for geological art with a one-of-a-kind gallery concept.
Here the objects, which were created over millions of years, are presented in the rooms of an old Hamburg trader building. Andreas Guhr thereby shows that his exhibits can be wonderfully integrated into the residential and work areas. The beauty, aesthetics and the origins of the individual exhibits fascinate and inspire.
